Have your say on water! IIaPGW consultations are about to start

14 kwietnia 2021 r.

The Minister of Infrastructure and the President of the National Water Management Authority (PGW WP) invite you to participate in semi-annual public consultations concerning updating the water management plans in the river basin areas -IIaPGW. It is the most significant stage of a project carried out by the National Water Management Authority as well as an opportunity for everyone to have an impact on the manner of water management, also in the immediate vicinity

Water management plans in river basin districts constitute one of the most significant planning documents concerning water management prepared by the National Water Management Authority. They constitute the basis for making decisions forming the condition of water resources as well as define the principles of their management.

The plans are prepared in 6-year cycles, and currently their second update is being prepared.
These key planning documents refer to 9 river basin districts in Poland: Vistula, Odra, Dniester, Danube, Banówka, Elbe, Niemen, Pregoła, and Świeża. They also concern recommendations for actions concerning all water bodies, including: stagnant water reservoirs - lakes, ponds, watercourses - rivers, streams, as well as coastal fragments of sea and ground waters.

-We have prepared a comprehensive project of water management plans at 9 river basin districts. This is a key planning document, next to the plan for counteracting the effects of drought and flood risk management plans, developed by National Water Management Authority. It includes nearly 170 proposals for actions that aim at maintaining and improving the condition of water in the upcoming years, indicating the units responsible for their implementation. Launching public consultations opens the possibility for a broad social view on water management in our country- said Paweł Rusiecki, Deputy President of the National Water Management Authority.
